This is my first and only tattoo (but only because I’m 19 and broke, not because I don’t want more).  Oddly enough, it was a tattoo design I drew for my now-ex boyfriend, who I had been seeing for two and a half years at the time I finished it.  He broke up with me just weeks after I drew this, but I kept the drawing and always liked it.  We have been broken up for almost two years now, though we have remained friends.  Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely long over him — we have both found other loves since our very naive and youthful relationship — and this tattoo has no significance to me in regards to him in the slightest.  It’s just kind of funny when I think of the origins of this tattoo idea and remember my original intent for the drawing.

People always ask me if the city is Pittsburgh, since I live in Pittsburgh and have lived somewhat close to Pittsburgh for my entire life, but it’s not modeled off any city in particular.  I guess for me, the tattoo is a symbol of my affinity for both nature and the city.  It’s hard to find the best of both worlds at times, so this tattoo is a reminder of one when I don’t have the other.
